Same Sex Marriage ... again?!

Via Boys for Breakfast ....

This pic totally reminded me of a brief rant I read over at "Got Gay?" As a fellow Canadian, he too is entranced at the means to gain popular ground with the voting public as the Political parties of Canada are now engaged in yet another Election (yes, an election even during the holiday season, even Got Gay? is somwhat entralled by this). What we both find fascinating is the means of the Conservative Party by its attempt to yet again focus its attention on Same-Sex Marriage.

Now, for a brief history lesson; during our last election, the Same-Sex Marriage debate was in full force with all parties on either side of the fence. In fact, it was spectacle that even half the population was on either side of the fence, there seemed to be no middle ground for anyone. In the end, it was considered UNCONSTITUTIONAL to deem worth to anyone wanting to pursue marital status; meaning its not in the governments hands to ban marriage to anyone (in the end they answered the question of Same-Sex Marriage without really answering it). Now that that moment has passed, Same-Sex couples can get married.

Fast forward to now ... we are at a point to yet again choose leadership for us Canadians. And the political parties are YET AGAIN choosing the Same-Sex Marriage 'issue' to gain popularity with the voting public. Well .. I for one feel this is a total waste of time especially considering that our Supreme Court deemed it Unconstitutional to ban marriage from Same-Sex couples. Now should the Conservative Party of Canada make it into office, and reverse the decision bestowed upon from the Supreme Court ... what does that say about our Supreme Court? Should this be allowed to happen, I feel it implies the Government wants TOTAL CONTROL (okay, maybe an exaggeration .. but, it does steer towards that direction). And besides, shouldn't Political party's vying for popularity focus on the main issues at hands .. like oh I don't know, Health Care, Pension Plans, Taxes and everything else that we all as citizens of a country deal with on a day to day basis?
